The Data Centre Services Team is responsible for the operational running of client environment in the related Data Centres. The Data Centre Services team is a critical function, providing professional Networking, Infrastructure & 24*7 “Hands and Eyes” support to client environment including On-Call 24/7.
The main duties are as follows:
- SME for all DC Infrastructure related topics including “hands on” work like racking and stacking of IT components
- Maintain operational relationships between the Data Centre partner(s) and customers
- Plan efficient use of Data Centre space &Cabinet utilization, working to the Hosting Data Centre Standards
- Set up concepts for installing Data Centre cabling for all managed solutions and internal Networks as described in design documentation and using current copper / fibre and patch panelling standards. Quality assurance of the same for the customer’s own cabling installations
- Provides pre and post-sales support to associated support specialists, Account and Service Managers
- Support any Company Governance related activities and ensure that any non-compliances are managed to conclusion
- Knowledge of national and international Standards on an expert level
- Liaise with suppliers and DC Lead Engineers on an international scope
Primarily based in Frankfurt, the role will also require the Engineer to oversee customer and data centre partner activities at other facilities in the Rhein-Main area. In case of an onboarding of additional sites the role will be expanded to these new sites as well. The successful candidate will need to travel between the specified sites on a regular basis and to be on-call on rotation. The regular working time is Monday to Friday. The role holder will need to ensure the effective infrastructure management of these locations through structured engagement with the respective Data Centre teams and Services partners, ensuring that contractual commitments and SLA’s are met, and data centre standards maintained. He/she must have very well communication and diplomatic skills to deal with all related parties even in situations with conflict potential. Problem resolving capabilities is a must for the role. Furthermore, the role holder needs to have deep understanding of the underlaying business requirements to ensure a future save environment. There is a strong requirement for cross functional understanding of all related departments such as network, platform infrastructure, capacity management and supplier restrictions. The role will also require the individual to work to strict incident, problem, capacity and change management controls. Direct and indirect customer engagement will also form part to this role so a key responsibility will be to deliver a great Service experience to our Collocation and Managed Customers alike. For onboarding new DC staff as well as train new joiners of other departments leadership experience is preferred.
